As I sit outside at night

I am comforted by the sounds of people 

reaching the next parts of their lives

while I blankly look over the light polluted sky

and estimate how much time is left

until I lose my pulse

leaving people to lie

about everything I was

including how 

the shade of my skin

in the wintertime

was similar 

to when I became 

just a body

groceries
